Nothing in the rear view matters

Welcome all,

My name is Joshua "Sarge," another BiggerPockets traveler making his way through this journey alongside you.

To everyone just getting started, congratulations. Taking the first step is often one of the hardest parts.

Over the past few years, I've noticed a pattern.

Many of us step into real estate believing success is waiting just around the corner. How could we not? Social media is full of overnight success stories, luxury cars, and stacks of cash that make it seem like that's the destination.

I understand it because I thought that way too.

But somewhere along the way, my definition of success changed.

Success isn't measured by fat stacks of cash, a Bugatti, or the finest metals around our necks.

Sometimes it's much quieter.

It's the handshake at the closing table.

The hug from a previous homeowner.

Helping someone through a difficult season.

Watching trust grow one conversation at a time.

Those moments don't always feel like success.

Yet they often carry more meaning than the things we were taught to chase.

Nothing in the rearview changes where you're headed.

Not your mistakes.
Not your non-famous moments.
Not what happened years ago.

What matters is what you're building from this moment forward.

So wherever you are in your journey, don't let someone else's highlight reel define your progress.

Define success for yourself.

Build it with intention.

Allow it to flow through you, not stop with you.

You're probably closer than you think.

Now keep going. <3
