Hello All,

Merry Christmas to everyone. I am just starting out as an investor. Based on my memory from college days, my mentor was of amazing value. with such big endeavors, I believe a mentor is of the essence.

I am reaching out to the BP community to obtain opinions on how to best find a seasoned mentor.

Please let me know and thank you for your time.

Regards,

Alex Afandi

Welcome to Biggerpockets!!

Honestly I repectfully disagree with @Brandon Proctor    . I never started with a mentor. Heck most people thought we were honestly "nuts". We have only in the past year really mentioned it in the past 2 months even advertised it. That was because I started a blog and posted my articles on my Facebook page!

If you find a "mentor" or someone who is "free" and willing to advise you than that can be a great asset. Personally I think you would be better off researching what you want to do (wholesale, buy and hold, etc) and than go from there. Build you goal (ours is early retirement in 15 years). than start on a path.

Use this site to research your questions, get ideas, and be your cheerleaders! Keep in mind that every area is different so use these as thoughts not as what you HAVE to do to succeed. Your first deal will not be as good as your last but the key is to GET started. The bug bit us with our first deal and since than we have been slowly plotting to get to your goals.

Check people;s signatures if you like there "thoughts" as many of us go into great detail about our plans. Also PM people. We are all on her because we want to give back and participate.
