DIRECT MAILING HELP ??????

Question

Hey bigger pockets family, I have a quick question regarding direct mailing.... im very new so give me your insight. I have a list of vacant houses and I want to mail the owner of the vacant property to hopefully get their attention that im interested in getting it under contract. what is a quick and easy way to do this? what are some great direct mailing companies I can use?

If you are starting off with a small list of vacant properties, hand write the letters and envelopes and mail them out yourself.  This will help you stand out from the standard postcard mailing the owners are used to seeing.  Really, the thing that will get your phone ringing is motivation and sometimes timing is the key so consistency is important.  I think a hand-written letter addressing the owner by name and telling them that you would love to buy their house will get results.  I have been doing this in my area and have been getting an average of 2-4 calls per 10 letters sent.  It is a small area so #s are smaller.  Here is an example of the letter I use.  It's simple and seems to get results.  Try different variations and see what works best for you.  Good luck!

There are several ways to execute depending on the size and quality of your list. Will this be a self assembled driving for dollars list or does it come from a data provider? I'd want to vett the data some before firing off a bunch of mail.

If you are wanting to go the direct mailing route, you'll need to plan on sending consistently. We recommend to send every 3-5 weeks for 5-7 months. You're going to want to stand out since your market is competitive, but don't be deterred from taking action and sticking to it because of the competition. Just keep going.

As for the direct mailing company I'd recommend, well.....
