partner wants llc documents

I just set up an llc. The partner I'm working with wants documents. Is this normal procedure?

Is this a handshake partner or someone actually listed on your LLC? If it's a handshake partner he can obtain it from your state's office usually. In my state it's public info. If he's listed on the LLC why wouldn't you want him to have a copy of it?
