Realtor license - should I get it?

Peter Thelen
Posted

I am getting ready to start buying and am considering getting my real estate sales license so I can act as my own realtor. I will be buying and selling for LLC that I am partner in. Do you think this is a good idea?

The question ultimately boils down to how much you will actually use the license.  Most people over estimate their usage, which is clear since 87% drop their license within 5 years of getting it.  It costs thousands of dollars a year to maintain your license. I reckon, 5 transactions per year is where it makes sense to be licensed.
