Moving to Washington DC area in Nov...buying first home!

Posted

Greetings.  Finally got my assignment notification and I'm being moved from England to the Washington DC area to work at the Pentagon.  I'm a single captain with no kids or pets and looking to buy my very first home :)

Looking to live-in flip or house hack a 3/1 SFH/townhome within public transit to the Pentagon.

Seems like outside I-495 in Virginia has some potential...but home are quite expensive. See there are some foreclosures out there too as possibilities. Depending on timing, the market, and what's available, I am interested in BRRR and investing further.

Been digging through podcasts and the forums and am excited to get started!  If anyone would like to connect, that would be great.

PG County and DC are best for flipping. Nova would be best for your commute. How you choose to finance will play a part here, as if you plan to use a VA loan, thats not the product you would want to use for a property for a live in flip. BRRRR is a capital intensive strategy, so be aware of that as well.
