How much does response time actually impact closing deals in real estate?

For agents who’ve been in the business for a while, I’m curious how you really see this playing out in practice.

How much do you think response time actually affects your ability to close a deal?

There’s a lot of talk about speed-to-lead being critical, but I’ve also seen experienced agents say that once a lead is serious, timing doesn’t matter as much as follow-up quality and relationship building.

So I’m trying to understand both sides from people actually in the field:

  • Do you think faster response time directly increases conversion rates?
  • Or is it something that gets overstated in online discussions and coaching programs?
  • Have you personally lost deals or opportunities because you didn’t respond quickly enough?
  • Or were those leads unlikely to convert anyway?

I’m especially curious from agents who handle a decent volume of leads or have been doing this for several years  since I feel like the answer might change depending on experience and deal flow.

Would love to hear real situations, not just theory,   especially examples where response time actually made a difference one way or the other.
