As a part time realtor I've had little success. I am currently working as a sales manager at a cruise line company and the job is just unfulfilling for me and not making much traction as a Realtor isn't helping me out mentally. The check is ok, about $65k a year and the benefits are great but I want a career in real estate and I obviously cant do it here.

So I was considering finding a job selling new homes in southern California, but I don't know any one that has much experience in what it has to provide.

Any one on here ever held a position like that? Likes/dislikes?

I disagree with ^^ . I was a part-time agent for 2.5 years before I went full time last summer (with zero prior exp) and I was selling 30-40 homes/yr. You have to sacrifice your weekends and week nights. No vacations, no time off but keeping my full-time job while being a Realtor allowed me to get through the first couple years financially.  9 out of 10 agents quit in the first year because the paycheck isn't steady and they have bills to pay. Most people communicate through email and text these days so you can keep track of all your clients and transactions through your phone during the day. You can read this long post I made at the below link that goes into higher detail. But I will tell you since I have written this my business has exploded and I am growing and growing. It just takes time to become established and get your name out there. I am now starting to get referrals and repeat business but its not easy.
