BiggerPockets mobile App?

Question

Hi everyone,

I just had a question for anyone that might have the answer:

- Is there, or will there ever be a BiggerPockets mobile app for iOS?

I would like to surf the BP app whenever I have downtime just to get my daily news updates on real estate and take advantage of the PRO articles.

I see more sites going to just their regular website, optimized for the phone, than dedicated apps. I have two banks that have done so as well as a credit card, and know of a couple of organizations that have as well. I don't do app development but I was told for most sites and businesses it's a lot of work for low payback. A car forum that I'm a part of, and I know the owner of the forum, told me that the dedicated app required constant work and updates as phones and operating systems changed.

In any case, I remember the BP app and it was terrible. I don't miss it for anything.

We’re listening, but yea the app got a lot of negative reviews and the site needed a lot of work, so we prioritized the site.

BP has discontinued the IOS version of the mobile APP.  I had this early version but lost it when I recently upgraded my iphone.  I've asked BP why several times and never received an answer.  While at an ATT store and noticed the APP is currently available on Android.

JD, don’t disagree on some of the points you’re making above on responsive Web versus mobile app development, but it all comes down to level of engagement and what you’re looking to do with a site or service. Put simply, a well-designed mobile app has far higher user engagement than a web only service/site. The challenge with the BP forums is that they perform poorly on mobile in their current form. A great alternative would be simply licensing or leveraging a different web forum platform that already has a mature mobile app available for and that BiggerPockets could simply redirect mobile users to when they open the site. In the current form, I am constantly dealing with AutoCorrect failures when entering text on a mobile browser or tablet, inability to tag members, and quoting errors on text. Those certainly discourage contributing to the forums and that’s one area where a dedicated mobile app that leverages on device auto correct capabilities, could help. Yes, if it’s just a web frame cross-development framework that lacks any ability to leverage a device’s native capabilities then the cheapest route to market via web certainly wins.

I had the ios app but just lost it after upgrading my phone as well. It's extremely frustrating in this day and age to not think mobile first. No one is tied to their desktop anymore or want to navigate to a website on their mobile device.

There used to be an iOS app a while ago, but it was kinda clunky. I heard they removed it so that they could focus on making the website better first.
