Contacting Members by PMs and Emails

Hello Everyone -
Over the past few weeks I have gotten a few complaints about people SPAMMING forum members through both PMs and email in particular. As a result, we have implemented several policies.

1 - Members will not have access to the PM system until they have reached 10 posts on the forum. This will ensure that people who register on the site with the whole intention of SPAMMING through PMs will be dissuaded.

2 - Members will not have access to email one another through the forum. This policy may change in the future, but for now, it will stand. If a member needs to email another member, then they can make contact by PM first and then exchange email addresses. This will ensure that no other member will have the ability to send you unsolicited emails thanks to BiggerPockets.

I realize that these policies may inconvenience some of you, but they do serve the greater good to protect the members of the site.

Thanks for your understanding.

Regards,

No worries, Martha. Everyone was new at one point.

To get to the New Member Forum, click on "Forums" in the upper left of the site. Then you should see a section on the right, above which is the text "Jump to Category". In that section, click on "BiggerPockets", and then click on "General Info", and then you'll see the forum for "New Member Introductions". Then you can introduce yourself, and you'll do better than me, because I didn't do that. Oops. Sorry Joshua.

Oh, and a PM is a Private Message. If you click on Joshua's name in his post above, it will take you to his profile and you should see an option on the left for "Send Joshua a Private Message". Of course, according to the rules he mentions above, you'll have to have made at least 10 posts first.

And don't worry about doing something inappropriate. If you do, people will tell you and you can correct the issue. But it's best to just jump in and start using the site.
