Just thought I'd make a suggestion, there's a lot of military people on the site and even more military comments about using VA loan, PM from afar, allowances, and tax situations that are specific to military. Might it be worth it/possible to create a forum under Real Estate Strategies or another area?
We used to have one, but it appeared that interest had waned. If you guys can drum up some more support, we'd be happy to back you up with a rebirth of our military rei forum.
Hello Richard. I wouldn't mind seeing a sub forum for military. There are many more military folks than I thought would be on here. It's not to section ourselves out but more facing things unique to us or relatable to us. I support this along with making other sub forums for more specific categories.
I really like the idea as well. We have a lot of unique circumstances, problems, and tools that many others do not. It would be beneficial to get us all in one place to discuss specific military related things.

Iam all for it. Would make it easier to find info regarding VA loans and such since there are so many topics it would help to have them in one spot since military REI brings different challenges then normal.
I'll add another vote for this forum. I get a lot of messages from other military members, especially those wanting to invest out of state or overseas. It would be a good place to post threads to help them get started and specifically how to use strategies that can be adapted to moving around every 2-3 years. I just struggled with that due to a military move in April.

I totally feel you on that. While it took me a while our transient nature has been the biggest asset. While you have to learn a whole new market, you get to use personal financing (lower interest rates and financing).
if we get enough votes this will be a major help with speeding up the learning curve. since there are a lot of people with experience with VA loans and other military factors with investing on here having it all in one place would be a massive help.
I'm all for it...I'm away from home 7-9 months every year...quite literally. While I've been very lucky in my investments and dealing with PM's so far, it would be nice to have a place to compare notes and offer solutions to our unique situations, etc. Great suggestion.
I could not agree more. I'm active military and am always looking for suggestions and feedback from other military members on how to invest while dealing with military-specific issues, such as deployments and PCSs.

Wow, didn't realize there would be such strong support for this! @Joshua D. , I volunteer as moderator as well, workload permitting. I realize I haven't been around long, but it would be unfair for me to propose the idea and then not be willing to help!
