How Is Advertising Defined

I'm a very experienced investor, but pretty new to BP.  Two times I've had posts removed by moderators for "advertising content." In neither case did I advertise or self promote. In one case I simply gave the names of two investor clubs to a new investor who was asking about networking opportunities in my market.  In another case I posted a link to a document I wrote that gives an Intro to SEC 8, including a checklist to expedite the payment of rents and an inspection checklist.  Neither case was even close to a self promotion.  In both cases I responded to the moderators asking very politely for an explaination, and in both cases my message was ignored.  I have had other private conversations with moderators, so I know they can see my reply.

Has anyone else had this experience?  Who is monitoring the moderators?

@Patti Robertson  I understand you point.  However spammers and those here only to promote themselves will take any weakness or hole in our policies and exploit it. unfortunately innocent people with the best intentions get caught in the net.

Yes you can create a blog post here. You can also link to the post.

@Account Closed in this case it is up to the recipient of a private message to decide whether your message is appropriate or not. Every private message has link to report the message as spam. We consider private message spam as one of the worst offenses. If someone has asked about a specific topic, you are probably safe but again it is up to the recipient to decide. If you are already colleagues then a message is usually appropriate.

For both of you and anyone else reading along, we want Bigger Pockets to be a way for you to promote yourself and to do business here on the site. However it is more important to us that no one ever receives what they consider an unsolicited ad or self promotion of any kind. The best way to promote yourself here is to post good quality stuff and build relationships over time.
