Profile Visibility: How to Get it on BiggerPockets?

Question

I was wondering to myself which members got the most traffic to their profiles, as my theory is that those people who are most active on the site are those who do get the most visibility to their profiles and elsewhere on site.

So . . . I checked our analytics and noted that all but one of the top 50 most visited profiles over the past year on the site were owned by people who were amongst the most active on the site over that same period.  The one outlier happened to be a real estate guru whose profile happened to do well on the search engines for their name.

In terms of activity, these members were either highly active on the forums, were contributors to the BiggerPockets Blog, or were active bloggers on our blog network.

None of these people were the marketer types - those members who just come and post ads or other annoying types.

Of course, these people also got a tremendous amount of visibility on those areas that they participate . . . profile traffic was the only metric that I was looking at.

So . . . if you're looking to increase your visibility, the absolute best way to do so is to get out there and participate.

I would imagine that not only were the top 50 the most active but also the most consistent on this site.

Developing consistency on this site or anything in life makes us successful. I always tell people, to spend 15 minutes a day on biggerpockets.com and make contributions. Developing that consistency will lead to success.

Vikram - We should have the stats page hiding all last names to visitors to the site in our next update.  As for company pages, if your name is hidden on your profile, it does not show on a company page.  In your case, perhaps your company's name is the cause of your issue?

Josh, I am very happy to network with other BP members and have them contact me, view my profile, etc.  But I really do not like a google search showing my BP membership, which it currently does in several ways:

1.  Stats page.  This shows my full name and not my BP screen name,
2.  My company page on BP.  Again, shows my full name.

Is there a way to not show my full name on these two pages?  I am a very private person but do not mind sharing with BP members while remaining invisible to search engines.

I believe your analysis to be accurate. I have a fairly high profile view count which has gone hand in hand with my high activity level here on BP. Exposure is one thing, adding to that is education (which may be even more important). I feel that those who stay active on the site are those who learn the most and ultimately, those who make more money.
Let this be an example to both new members and those who have been here, but have not kept up their activity levels.
