You'll see a message about a session error or something to that effect.

We're sorry about any troubles you're having -- we do need your help, however to fix this.

So - if you're getting these messages as of this posting, please let me know.

Bill - Those are problems we had years ago, but the site is running many times faster than it ever did.  I haven't heard of these kinds of things happening in some time, so we're going to probably have to do some problem solving.  Can you PM me with some details about your setup so we can figure this out?

I know you're running Windows 7.  What about your browser?  What is is and what version?  Can you send a PM the next time it happens and make sure to note the exact time the problem happens?

Again, this is something we're not experiencing at all, so hearing it out of the blue is a little surprising.  I'll look forward to the PM.

I am running IE8, version 8.0.6001.18702 in compatibility mode, (makes pages look right for many forums).

I have the problem reliably and consistently.  Just got the problem just clicking on the green "signup" box half an hour ago.

The signup form pops up briefly, then the screen goes blank, (another pop up?) and the message "Error on page" shows in the bottom left corner, with the moving timer cycling endlessly.

When I click the "back" button on the browser, I get an odd message "Tab recovered", and I get asked whether or not I want to send a message to Microsoft about the problem.  Apparently, IE is fussing big time...

I have no problems on any other sites that I am aware of.

As far as my possible desire to learn Ruby and Ruby on Rails, I want to be able to program anything that I dream up, and I used to be able to do this with FoxPro, though I have no interest in using this program any longer.

I'm hoping to avoid making a serious mistake (learning to program in Java might turn out to have been a mistake, look at yesterday's news, heheheh!), but learning PostgreSQL is a hurdle that I haven't quite decided is worth the price.  I understand that Ruby (whatever it does) is quite programmer friendly.  I primarily need "flexible" database applications, in that I want database tables to interact quickly and easily with my scripts.  I wish we could still call them programs.  Scripts sounds so...trivial, somehow!

As for programming, there's a ton of demand for Ruby guys if you're looking.

LOL, I just thought you kept kicking me off!

Not shure if all is relevant, but I hit submit and lose the post. Lost the whole site and have to come back, sometimes I have to log in again. I get a very slow response turning pages in a thread or selecting a thread I click on. Lots of "BP is not responding due to a long running script" 
When I click on a next page, it seems to run for 30 to 45 seconds, I've been hitting escape to stop it and it usually resets, but sometimes it sends me to a black hole, off the internet and log back on strarting at internet explorer get back.   :(

I have window 7 on this, use mediacom, have no idea....

I just tested our registration page on multiple updated browsers and it works fine on all of them.

What is your browser and the version you're running?

As for learning Ruby on Rails, it is a great programming language; why are you looking to learn it?  Are you a developer?

As a newbie, I probably don't know what I am doing, and this topic is definitely not where this note should be posted, but I haven't found a better one, and until I get my feet wet, I'd prefer not to start new topics that might be duplicated but which I haven't found yet.

The signup process isn't working correctly.  I tried to sign up three different times, and each time, I couldn't get the page of information to be accepted, or the last time, I couldn't even GET to the username information submission textbox.  "Errors on this page" was the message at the bottom left of the otherwise nearly blank screen.

I believe that the problem is because I clicked on the "individual" vs. "business" boxes.  When I finally managed to complete my signup, it was because I carefully avoided moving the cursor anywhere near those two boxes at the top of the form on a brand new entry, and rebooted computer attempt.

I am thinking of learning Ruby and Rails instead of a database program.  Would you have any advice as to how sensible or idiotic this notion might be?

Thanks Stefan - I appreciate that.

That said, I believe we've fixed all the related problems;

- Session bug should be fixed
- Forum bugs should be fixed (we just knocked this out this morning)

Thanks for the patience everyone.  Our system that should have prevented all this from happening failed - my fault - but hopefully going forward, new changes/fixes/updates/upgrades to the site won't cause any visible chaos to you again.
