Hello BP folks !
I have some questions about the Tacoma, WA area. I know there are quite a few seasoned investors or folks who know this area well :)
My question is...
Are there any areas in Tacoma to avoid when purchasing single family homes or Multi family units for possible rentals (and why) ?
thanks in advance !

Hi Jinwoo, like most big city there is always good and bad areas. I don't live in Tacoma but I know that the hilltop area is not a good area and personally I would not invest there

hi @Jinwoo Lee
I am a real estate broker at Caliber Real Estate. I work with a lot of investors in the Pierce County area and we specialize in helping clients buy at the foreclosure auction.

Hilltop has come a long way in the last 10 years. I just sold a home located in the heart of Hilltop and it was not a bad place. Hilltop is not the nicest area in Tacoma but it is not bad and it is actually a great place to invest and ride the wave as the neighborhood gets better.

Thanks for the great info ! I was actually looking at Hilltop properties through google earth right now :) One thing I noticed .. some places in that area possibly need fences. additional expense :/
Yes I guess there are always opportunities in every area. risky but good reward.
I will do much more research before I purchase anything. I like to study, drive and visit the areas in advance.

I live and work in Tacoma, I might be able to give you some insight. Can I ask what type of investment strategy you're looking for properties for?

I would buy in hilltop all day long. I own two sfh south of 56th. The only area I don't like is the western part of pioneer, near the casino.
Other than that, it's all relative.
