Fireplace and Chimney removal Cost

Hello Bigger Pockets,

What is a good estimate for removal of the chimney and fireplace (roof to sub-floor)?

Has anyone here tackled a DIY project like this?

I want to open up the kitchen to the living  room. The fireplace is unsafe for use based on inspection.

I am actually taking one out this week. The chimney was in disrepair anyway and there was no fireplace, the chimney was just the vent for the hot water heater and furnace. By removing it I will gain a ton of space in a 2 BR, 1.5 BA condo alternative flip. The fix-it cost would have been $7,500 for a chimney with no fireplace. To remove and add a column, while doing another structural renovation it will cost me $10,000. I will need to add direct vent systems instead, but the living space will undergo a huge increase.
