The Coast has exploded with people moving here because they can now work remotely. The job market has always been a challenge for the coast, now people can have a great remote job, and live in an amazing place like the Oregon Coast like never before. I get multiple calls a week from people selling in high cost markets who can get a dream home on the Oregon Coast they could never afford in their move-from market.

The great thing about the Oregon Coast is that every beach town is a little different, the two big population areas are Coos Bay and Astoria/Warrenton but Seaside, Lincoln City, Newport, Florence, Bandon, Gold Beach, and Brookings all have decent small town infrastructure. Then you have your tiny beach towns people love, like Cannon Beach, Pacific City, Gearhart, Neskowin, Yachats, and a hundred more.

that would be quite the area to service.. Brooking s to Astoria :) Oregon coast sure suffered from the GFC big time..

I think the Jury is really out on this remote working stuff..

No kidding! I regularly work the Seaside to Yachats market... that is more than enough!

Yes, the GFC hammered the Oregon Coast. We didn't fully recover until probably about 2018... way later than the rest of Oregon.

I agree on the work from home stuff. I am getting calls from people who are absolutely moving to the coast because of it now... but will it last... and if it doesn't many of these people will likely have spend a sport period of their lives full-time living on the Oregon Coast.

I built a few homes in Seaside Thompson falls the lots to the south.. I did 4 of them..  One was local Policeman.

the rest I am thinking were retiring .. One was from Dallas..  trying to escape the heat..  of course they asked me if it rained much :)

I said well i know it rains sideways  LOL

But for sure the Oregon coast has its loyal following.. but the national audience here on BP  they have to realize that Brookings and Astoria are 250 miles or so apart and a LONG day on the road between them.. great area though if you have access or have a small plane because air miles between the north coast and PDX area is really only about 50 miles.. so 2 hour drive can be a 20 minute to 30 minute flight.

I used to get from Tillamook to Aurora in less than 25 minutes.. And tomorrow I am going to fish the Trask so set for 2 hours each way by car. But if we hook a few of those mint bright salmon it will be worth it.. Oregon coast is a sportsman's paradise no doubt.. Along with those that want to get out of the very Oppressive Texas and mid west summer weather or the freezing weather of the north east.. but it is still very rural as coasts go especially compared to other parts of the US coast line.

PS on Thursday I was over there looking at a potential fixer..  and drove up the trask to check on water conditions and right there off the road was a very nice herd of Elk about 7 bulls and 30 cows.. you just dont see that kind of nature right off a public road 5 minutes from town in many other parts of the US.

and you know how the elk rummage through gearheart ..
