Is it corny to start topic threads to generate networking leads

I am of the opinion that people should be starting threads for sincere interest in topic or need to solve a problem....NOT for the sole intention of creating a topic as phony way to engage in networking for some related product or service.

Sure, chime in on others people threads, but topic phishing is corny, IMHO!

If you see it happening and think it's a violation, contact a moderator and they'll investigate.

The forums are designed for the free sharing of information. Business should be conducted in the Marketplace and not in the open forums.

I think we see a little more of this in the last few years.. basically start a thread with a blog post.. And most of those I see stay in place they dont get taken down.. I guess there is a fine line there..

the other thing I always thought interesting was the cut and paste members who cut and past the exact same response time and again.. I guess to earn post numbers  IE lots of post  = lots of credibility on this site.  and to keep there names out there.. No content posted in those that is helping anyone.
