Deployed and looking to buy a HUD house

I am currently deployed and have been looking at buying a house to move into when I get back. I should be able to live in the house I buy for at least 2 more years. I have been in the market for a while and found a house that I think would be great. It's a HUD house that will need the floors finished and appliances from what I can tell from zillow, trulia, and the info from the realtor. It is listed for 80k in a neighborhood or houses ranging from120 - 180k. They also dropped the price recently from 91k. Am I wrong to feel this is an opertunity forme and if it is how do I not miss out on it since I wouldn't be able to look at the house for 2 months?

Thanks for the reply. I have a couple friends going to look at the house and am hoping my brother will accept being my power of attorney since him and I would like to get into house rentals in North Dakota where he is at.

Are there any other pit falls I should be concerned with in doing this. My hope was I could get the upstairs livable before I got home and build the basement over the next 2 years as a keep my sanity project and decompress from my military activity.
