Any other firefighters and first responders out there in real estate investment? I work for Los Angeles County Fire Department as a firefighter/paramedic in the West Hollywood area. Currently invested in over 700 units of multifamily and always looking to connect with fellow first responders.

I’m a former first responder, 14 years in various roles. Some as a police officer, some as a 911 dispatcher, some as a firefighter/EMT (FF-I, FF-II, then driver-operator on engine company and truck). Even did a part-time stint with AMR on a BLS ambulance (I guess I get bored easily, LOL). Fun times!
Then I decided to turn my side-gig of real estate investing into my full-time focus. That was almost 20 years ago and while I really loved my former vocation, I’ve never looked back. Since that time I’ve raised way over $100 million from investors and bought over a half a billion dollars of real estate. Man, it seems like two completely different lives.
The difference is I worked for a small city (less than 50K people) and you work for a REAL fire department—I grew up watching squad 51 and engine 51 on my tiny four-channel color TV, LOL. You see more trauma in a 24 hour shift than I saw in a year.

@Hud Floyd Hello Sir, I am a Trooper for 6 years. Thanks for all the first First Responders! I am currently under construction on a flip and closing on a second in under a month. It’s definitely challenging balancing it all but we are making it work. God Bless.

Hi Chris Levarek. Thanks for your service and don't miss the station nights too much! At least the after midnight calls. North Carolina is a strong MF market.

Hey Chris Hughes. I imagine our paths have crossed at Cedars. You definitely have the right idea: landlord friendly states. Keep self-educating, and depending on your goals, take a closer look at MF. You have the potential to do more and faster. Food for thought. Getting good response from the LA City Guys. Glad to see the interest.

Hi Seth. Sounds like we're thinking alike: augment those pensions. Not only augment, but added protection and security. Boise has had some good movement in the MF space.

Hi Josh McCullough. Looks like you're moving up with diversification. I'm not as familiar with the mobile park world. I concentrate on MF. Great to hear from you.

This is my first post!
I’m a police officer working in the NW suburbs near Chicago. Coming up on 2 years of service and looking to be a investor in the next few years. I’m currently in my information gathering stage by reading posts, listening to podcasts and reading books.
Cool to see so many first responders on this site.

To all! The response to this thread has been phenomenal! It's been so incredible that BP has tagged me a few times and temporarily shut down my messaging system. Excessive use? Still trying to figure out the correct amount of responses allowed in a time frame! Currently not able to use the messaging system, but when it's resolved, I'll definitely continue to connect and respond to you all. Well, a great problem to have, thanks to all of you. (And BP has been good about resolving the issue.)
I didn't doubt so many responders were in the real estate world. Wonderful to hear the stories and experiences, the various levels of experience and investment. Hopefully some connections are being made in your various regions and areas of interest. It's great to have a community of individuals that can support each other along the way.
Let's keep it going and I look forward to connecting with you all. Stay safe.
