Best Electronic Signature Software??

Question

Hi Bigger Pockets,

My wife and I manage some university apartments and a triplex. We just took over the management for these family-owned properties and in the past, all of the lease agreements were physically signed. We would like to digitize this process and I was wondering if anyone has any recommendations for software? Obviously, there is Docusign but I'm guessing it's expensive for small business?

What do you use?

Agreed with the posts above. We've been using Docusign as a small business with only 2 rentals so far and it's been affordable and easy to use.

I've used DocuSign, RightSignature, eSignToday, and AdobeSign.  I thought DocuSign, RightSignature, and AdobeSign to be expensive for my needs (I just need a few signatures a year) and a whole lot more complicated to understand.  I think these are really good if you need a lot of signatures or have a lot of what I call "fill in the blanks" as you can put in different fields for tenants to complete.  I found eSignToday to be on the opposite spectrum where the pricing was a flat $0.50 per signature, and you can't add any fields for tenants to complete.  I just had to upload my own document.  With eSignToday, you only get an esignature.  Nothing more, so it's really easy but at the same time, you just get an esignature, which is fine if that's all you need.  There are a slew of other services, too, so you have a lot of choice to find the best one for you.  Hope this helps and good luck!

If you're going digital signature, why not also go paperless?

Dropbox bought Hellosign, which is now integrated with Dropbox. So, any Dropbox document can be easily sent for digital signature, right from Dropbox.

@Brian Green the docu sign is a great program. It also allows you to digitale save a copy. Which is nice.

@Brian Green, are you only seeking to hold digital leases, or are you wanting a more robust software solution?  Docusign is the "gold standard" in electronic records.  But a lot of the property management software has leasing capabilities and more.  A friend of mine loves Appfolio.  He owns/manages about 140 single family rentals, and uses AppFolio for everything from listing and lead generation to maintenance requests, including electronic leases.

You're right. It is included with the Standard plan for $9/month, but right now you have to copy the text of your contract into their editor for it to work. They don't have PDF signing yet (but it's on their development roadmap). That might be a deal breaker for some people.

I've used docusign for years both for personal and for work.  They seem to be the gold standard these days!
