: Scaling Through Private Lending — What’s Working for You?

Posted

Private funding has become a big part of how investors scale their portfolios.

If you’ve raised or used private money, what tips would you give to someone just starting out?

Whatever you think it will cost or how long it will take. Triple it...

We have raised $50M+ over the past 3 years but it is a grind. Also I would argue you cannot do it alone (and manage the fund), you need someone who can raise money on your team.

you need someone who can raise money on your team

Chris, how would you suggest going about finding someone that can raise money for a team?

Post a job on linkedin, network, talk to others, see fund of fund sponsors. It really needs to be part of an overall business plan on the entire organization. You need each piece of the puzzle to fit. Therefore you cannot look at it in a vacuum you need to review it as part of your plan. For example, big difference raising $1M or $5M than $25M. Each will take a slightly different strategy. Also is the person a sales person or more strategic? You expecting them to do inbound or outbound tactics?

There is a lot that goes into it that needs to be thought through, my suggestion map out your business plan then find people who can implement it
