I read a brief article that you can use your roth ira to buy property and after the sale you can put that back in your roth and let it grow tax free. Can one tell me how this is done?

Yes the Roth IRA rules allow for investing in real estate. This is a good way to grow your Roth IRA and to diversify your retirement funds away from just equities. You will need to open a self-directed Roth IRA with a custodian such as IRA Services Trust Company.
