Real Estate Agent vs. Investor

Hello everyone,

I am in a situation where I am a newer licensed Ohio real estate agent (3 months) and I would also like to start down the real estate investment path. I know there are some advantages to keeping my license as I do investments (commissions and referrals) but the more I think about it, the more I want to put my license on hold and focus on real estate investments. Also if I'm not going to focus on real estate sales then it wouldn't make sense to keep paying dues and other agent fees.

I was wondering if anyone else has been in this situation and if so, what were some pro's and con's that helped you make your decision. I would appreciate any feedback!

Thanks everyone!

@Drew Banyon

Welcome to BP!!

Access to the MLS is the biggest advantage in my opinion. Savings on commissions would be a close second. I believe having your license hanging somewhere (even though you have the related expenses), can only be an advantage to you. I'm fairly new myself so some of the tenured members may have differing opinions.

Best of luck to you either way.  Cleveland looks to have some decent value in that market from what I've seen!!
