I told my wife my goal is to retired from my current position at work at 55 that is when I’m eligible for the “retirement” benefits.
It's an incredibly easy answer for me; my family- ability for my wife to quit her job when we have kid #2. Not because we are going to start using our cash flow, but because the real estate is doing well enough where it doesn't need my cash anymore. in 10 years ability for us both to not work and do whatever we want with our kids, when we want.
When I sit down at a fancy restaurant, I want to be able to look at the menu items before the price tags.
Financial independence. I want to live comfortably and know that my standard of living is not necessarily correlated with my job.
I want to start a charity, and make a positive impact on those I know and those around me.
I need to provide for my children's futures. Tuition ain't cheap.
I agree, tuition is not cheap and it is not about to get cheaper in the future either. When I first started in this business, my reason was to support my younger daughter future college expenses.
My excessively detailed answer lol:
I exist to serve the highest needs of others so that all those around me will feel safe, secure, and inspired to live a life of duty and service. I strive every day to lead an unreasonable life of selfless service, gratitude, and honor. It is my prayer that I will inspire others to do the same. I am what I am, and I seek to share my both my successes and failures alike. I am a veteran of the U.S. Army and currently serve in the commercial construction and real estate industry.
WHY - To serve the highest needs of others so that all those around me will feel safe, secure, and inspired to live a life of duty and service.
HOW - I work to accomplish this by striving daily to walk as an honorable servant leader at home and in business. I navigate life with a steady resolve, a smile on my face, and love in my heart.
WHAT - I happen to work in the commercial construction and real estate industry.
Freedom – “A word that describes the most sought-after lifestyle on the planet.” Warren Miller
Legacy - “What we have done for ourselves alone dies with us; what we have done for others and the world remains and is immortal.” ― Albert Pike
My "Why?" is to build wealth for my family for generations to come as well as to duck out the rat race permanently.
@Alex Jones I want to be able to make money while having the ability to spend more time with my family and friends.
I love those quotes and thanks for sharing.
I like this line “duck out the rat race permanently”.
I’m not sure what a FFREIA is....
Also, I have just always known I was going to get into real estate because my parents did it and I saw how free they were to spend time with family. I then took a Real Estate class in College and we talked about a lot of stuff and I realized I really loved real estate. When I asked my teacher about learning more after class was over he showed me BiggerPockets. I have been hooked on real estate ever since.
@Alex Jones for my sons. I don’t ever plan on retiring, I want to make sure they have a good foundation.
Amazing and thank for protecting us and sharing your story!
Completely being financially free sir.
Great story. FFREIA stand for Freedom First Real Estate Investor’s Association, LTD
@Alex Jones financial freedom. No longer wanting to work to fulfill someone else's dream. I really hate needing to drive through traffic twice a day. No longer wanting to spend 13 hours a day related to someone else's company.
Initially paying for kid's college. Later it became for retirement income that doesn't affect social security. Somewhere in between those two the "why" was to buy a few pretty nice vehicles LOL.
Although I had 401k, IRA, my own home, etc I would run the numbers and come away convinced I couldn't comfortably retire before 70.
Real estate provides an escape route to that plan.
Earn enough to leave W2 job, provide supplemental income while retired, having RE investment fund your retirements etc
The ways to earn and learn seem endless.
To have NO FEAR! You JOB does NOT define you! You also get to help others when the Big Corporations wont!
@Alex Jones my why is to simply provide affordable and safe housing to the minority community.
Mahalo Alex. Just check out your profile too. Very cool and inspiring. Hit me up if you’re ever on Maui!
To be a part of building the American Dream... home ownership is the cornerstone of that dream. Simply put - I love helping folks.
There are a lot of secondary 'why' scenarios, but it's still money. I never lose sight of what this business is and why I am in business.
