Up and Coming areas in the DFW area.

Hi all,

New guy on the block here. Currently saving up for a multi-family property (preferably duplex) in the DFW area. Due to my job (airline pilot) I'm not comfortable house-hacking a SFH since I'm gone for days at a time.

I currently live in The Colony, TX after moving from uptown Dallas and got my little brother to move in with me to cut back on my living expenses. My goal is in 12-18 months to be out of my apartment and into a duplex to cover my moving expenses. I am not originally from the DFW area as I’m from Monroe, LA, this makes me unfamiliar with a good bit of the area and I would like your help identifying areas where I should look into and areas I should avoid. I’m seeing a lot of growth in the NE section of DFW, so I’ve been looking there for now. What about areas inside the metroplex though? Any parts going through gentrification I should be looking into?

Any help is appreciated!

Thanks in advanced,

Mike

I'd certainly advise you to find a good agent who can advise on the massive DFW are (happy to make an introduction) but agree with prior comment that duplex inventory is slim, especially on MLS.
