Helpful degree for real estate ?

Question

I know I don’t need a degree to do real estate I am in the military and need to take some classes and get a degree in order to rank up just. Curious what degree could help me the most with real estate. (Business, marketing, contracting?)Etc.

If I were in your shoes, I would shoot for a finance/accounting to general business degree. Some schools offer real estate-specific degrees, but I am unfamiliar.

@Matthew Spence I'd say go with a business degree and focus on real estate. I would also recommend majoring in accounting. It will help you understand key business concepts that you will need in the future.

I agree with the others: business degrees in finance or accounting are very useful in the RE space.

@Matthew Spence, real estate is a financial INVESTMENT, and investments are looking at financial returns.  Understanding how returns are calculated is imperative.  The pieces I use, beyond just common sense items, is managerial accounting and finance course work.

Today, everything's about technology; doesn't matter the industry.

Running #s to make investment choices is just simple arithmetic, and most business courses are taught by professors who've never started any multi-million/billion dollar businesses.

Uber's not in the personal transportation business. Air B&B's not in the short term rental business, and Amazon for sure is not in the shipping business. These are all technology companies.

The shipping business I have in NY is not really about shipping, but technology (streamline & automate), and even the real estate company I have with 2 other partners, we're using technology to find leads. (Not saying it's super advance stuff or anything like that), but having a better understanding of technology than most ppl (programming, automation, machine learning, digital marketing) can not only help you with the data that'll give you an unfair advantage, maybe even help find leads (and sell that data), but is applicable in so many different aspects of modern day life.

@Matthew Spence as others said get a Business Degree. Depending on the school, they sometimes have concentrations in Marketing or Finance. Either is good to have. A business degree will help you no matter what you choose to do in life. Most real estate agents eventually level up and basically run their own office, which means running a business. You will never regret investing in your mind with a college degree. Thanks for your service and good luck in school.
