Bad experience with contractor

Hello all

Had a bad experience with constructor in a rehab project. Everything that might go wrong in this kind of project well, went wrong..

Job was not done to the expected level. Contractor basically disappeared after receiving all the agreed payment and even more (i know.. the number 1 mistake working with a constructor)

Can i somehow make a claim to his insurance?

Any other suggestions?

Thanks

Claim on his insurance? I doubt it. If he's bonded you might be able to get a claim against them that way. Whether it's worth it or not depends on the dollar amounts being discussed and what he did and did not do, and to what standard. The bonding company is not going to want to pay out 5 cents, so you will have some burden of proof if you want to claim substandard workmanship. Outright fraud - taking money without doing any work - should be dealt with at your local police station.
