Tenant texted me last night that "he left"

Out of the blue no warning...no other discussion...I didn't have a spare key because my ex property manager took them all ( don't ask) so called my locksmith ...I was really holding my breath as to what I might find...but the house was clean and in order and as far as I could tell no damage...so yay...I can rent it out again no problem...it was just so strange he would do that...he has not made any other contact with me...never had this happen before

@Zana Blue there are a few lessons here. My thoughts:

1 - add early termination to lease.

2 - there needs to be routine communications

3 - digital locks over keyed locks (IMO the era of keys is over)
