AirBnb Hillsboro, OR

Hi everyone!

I have recently been considering posting my home on AirBnb when I go on vacations. The home is located in Hillsboro, OR and is a well kept 2200 sq. ft 3 bedroom home. Hillsboro is definitely not a "destination" but I see that other people in the area have their homes listed on AirBnb. Is there anyone out there in Beaverton, Hillsboro, Tigard or any part of Washington county that has had success or any experiences with trying AirBnb? Any feedback is appreciated, Thank you!

I have been doing Airbnb in my place (shared) for almost 3 years. Even in Chicago, across the street from 24-hour public transit, a block from the lake, November through February are sometimes ZERO guests. It's just the nature of travel. But during the summer hardly a day goes by that I'm not booked. Most of the horror stories are from owners who rent entire places, because there is no supervision and if left to their own devices, people will do what they can get away with.

Even if I'm going out of town, I don't let my guests know. I just tell them I'm busy all weekend (or week), so we may not get to meet or see each other. Even a text, "Hey are you at the house?" When they say "No", respond with, "Oh, I was about to come by to meet you, but I guess I missed you again!" If they say "Yes", say, "I'm going to try to get by there today to meet you, but don't wait around."
