I am renting out my large single family home and have chosen a tenant by application etc. She was contacted on friday about this. She stated she will return a call on Monday to set up deposit etc. She wanted to give deposit day of viewing however we had others showings set up and explained the application process to her. Now here it is monday evening and I have not heard from her. I'm sad to say to me, this seems like she isnt very serious and will her rent also be late? I know its been just one day however we had to call her twice to even tell her she was accepted. Should I move on?

In the future, don’t give control to the applicant and make a scenario where you have to chase after them.

I tell my applicants, once I’ve approved them, that I will continue to advertise the property for rent and show it to those interested until a lease is signed and I have all monies owed (i.e. depost, first month’s rent, etc) in my hand.

I don’t chase anyone down. I just keep showing it, and I’m up front about it so if/when they see it’s still being advertised they know exactly why. It also creates some urgency on their part because a better applicant could come along and end up getting the place.
