Military Vet w/Service Dog

Benjamin Bubar
Posted

What do you do when you have a 6 month lease we an Army Ranger Vet who has a service dog and his lease is expiring at the end of April.  Hes been great but has ignored by attempts to contact him about moving our or extending the lease.  The property has trash scattered outside and i'm afraid its going to affect my summer rentals.. How do I get him out effectively?

You were supposed to have issued him a notice of non-renewal if that was your intent (not to renew).

It doesn't matter that he is a vet, or that he has a service animal (both situations can be given notice of non-renewal without consequence if done in accordance with the landlord tenant act, and your local laws).

So, check what the rules/laws are for your area, and issue the proper notice of non-renewal.
