Remodeling a Kitchen

Hi All,

I am remodeling a kitchen in a 2 family house I just bought. I am upgrading the full unit to be more modern and have an open concept.  The house is in West Hartford CT, a very nice area where a lot of professionals live and enjoy nice shops and restaurants.  I am going to charge the upper end of what the market allows and I would like to get some advice in the kind of appliances I should get. I would like to get nice appliances that will fit in a nice redone rental kitchen but will not break the bank.  Any advice.  Do I need to get top of the line or something that is decent but not that best but still looks nice.  For example, should I get a double door nice fridge with an ice maker for 1200 or should I get the nice bu more average regular fridge with the freezer on top for 630.  Both are black slate and look nice. The actual price does not matter as more, more does the question of how much do i really need to upgrade the appliances if I want to charge at the top of the market?

thank you!

What you REALLY should do if this question is important to you (I don't think it is a big deal as long as you don't get cheap appliances) is contact a few agents and tell them the address of the property and let THEM tell you what the higher end rental properties in THAT market have wrt appliances.

If you ask such a question in the open, people from different states will give you their opinion. No offense to those but in general who are they to give you advice on a property on abc street in West Hartford CT having NO idea about anything of the local market.

My personal opinion. No one is going to say "Oh My Friggin Gosh, my fridge doesnt have  the latest ice maker I want 300 dollars off the rent".

Get stainless steel. (you can't go wrong with stainless), and get semi modern (side by side doors , not the old 80's style fridge), and have the house sport nice finishes. If the house is done nicely, you can get away with good mid end appliances.
