Looking to sell inherited property

Justin Henry
Posted

So my father passed away last month and rented out a room for them to stay. Now that he’s passed they have full range of the house. My father finished paying the mortgage and I’m looking to sell the house because of location I don’t want the property (Trenton, NJ). The tenants keep pushing back payment to me day after day for the month of February as well as changed the locks. Any legal advice or where should I go from here? I know NJ is a pro tenant state so they have more rights than I do.

Hi Justin,

Sorry about your Father.

As far as removing the "Squatters" talk to a local eviction attorney about how to proceed.

I'd do it as soon as possible, and you be there in person when they leave to ensure they don't steal anything (everything).

Good Luck!
