Handy man horror stories and best practices for finding the best

Isaac S.
Posted

I have been doing most of my own handy work in our family owned property. I always felt like if I wasn't immediately making some other source of income or adding value in some way, i would rather pay myself the $25-100 an hour it can cost for a handyman.

However, I am in the process of pulling out a bunch of equity I am going to reinvest and I'm realizing that investing can be several full time jobs worth of work and that my time is better spent working on that goal instead of capturing that handyman pay.

I am curious how others find and/or cultivate good relationships with general handymen, while also controlling the expense... and/or any good horror stories are fun too.

I found a guy on CL years ago that is my go to guy.

I have started using thumbtack also as I have been overloading my handyman as I keep acquiring more properties.

I would use Home advisors before I ever used Angie's list. They used to try and charge a subscription to use their service and I can never forgive them for that.
