Structural inspection making me reconsider buying property

Aman Kaur
Posted

During the inspection, a crack was discovered outside the building but no crack inside. There are signs of some water damage.  My reliable contractor says 10k in expense.  My fear is will the building collapse down the line and is it worth buying the property? Is this fixable and should i go with it? Building is 1965 built and otherwise in a solid condition. Would love input and want to ensure what else am I missing that I am not thinking about.  Any experience response would be appreciated.

That sounds like nothing and not the slightest chance it's a 10k fix based on what you said. One crack outside has you worried and signs of a little water damage? I've never looked at a property as good as that one. Cracks on the exterior are wholly different if vertical or horizontal. Even a 1965 build will have settlement cracks. What other evidence is there that anything is structural? This is stuff that is on literally every house.
