Pest Control:Tenants responsibility or not?

Posted

How do you handle this with a rental? Do you require your tenant to be responsible? If you do, how do you enforce it? If you don't have them be responsible and hire out, how much can a landlord expect to pay? If you DIY, what do you use?

(I just had a tenant move out and it is infested with roaches! It was in her lease to take care of it and I did inspections, but didn't see any signs.)

My lease says I will handle any pest problems for first 30 days after they move in, after that it is their responsibility.

If they move out and you have a pest problem, document it and take it out of their deposit.
