Best mountain destinations for STR investment

Good morning,

I am in contract to purchase a STR in Destin, Fl. It is my first investment property on my own.

Just beginning to investigate STRs opportunities in ski/winter vacation detonations.

When looking into places like Glenwood Springs/Carbondale, Co and Lake Tahoe, I am seeing a lot of push-back and regulations that keep STRs out of the market. 

Does anyone know of great places that are profitable and  ‘safe’ for ski area STRs?

I have clients right now that are backing off of the beaches of Galveston and diversifying in Ruidoso NM. Mountain town with year round attractions and an STR niche they are able to capitalize on.
