Owner Occupied STR- Creative Solutions?

Katie Buell
Posted

Has anyone heard of creative solutions to do an owner occupied STR when you aren't the owner occupying it, but staying legal? We have had friends do this illegally where they claim it's their primary residence, but that makes me feel uncomfortable.

However, I was wondering if there is a creative way to do it. For example, there is a duplex and the owner lives in one and wants to do an STR in the other, but doesn't want to deal with the hassle, you could partner with them? Or somehow do Airbnb arbitrage? Just trying to be creative in the land of STR regulations. Love how on BP, they have you think not IF you can do something, but HOW you can do it. :)
