Breaking into the STR Space

Hello everyone! I am turning 18 in less than 3 weeks and can say I have been a business owner throughout my high school journey, from small local hustles to building products in my basement to sell online.

I am an aspiring Real Estate investor reading many books and conducting hours of research hoping to build an impressive real estate portfolio in the future! I have picked up a curiosity and even passion for short-term rentals and hope to own my own STR property in the area of the University I am attending.

To learn more about the space and discover the opportunities, difficulties, ups and downs of being a host as well as funding my STR in the future, I have been organizing and building a co-hosting company with hopes of helping hosts relieve stress while at the same time discovering what it means to own an STR and what it takes to have happy guests.

I wanted opinions from real estate investors, STR Hosts, and even property managers on the difficulties of hosting, tips for my co-hosting journey, and especially, how to onboard my first client with no references and where to find hosts.

Thank you in advance!

Read through older posts on here. There is a wealth of info here.

Read Avery's  book.

I would also recommend Chad Carson's book "The small and mighty investor"

Congrats on getting started so early.

If I knew what I know now at 18...woe.

Let me know how I can help.

Oh I would start with some inexpensive STR'S property's maybe with owner financing to get started.
