What is the minimum size requirement for a washing machine for an STR? 4.5 cu or 5.0 cu?

My motivation for a washer and dryer is based on the ease for cleaners to be able to turn the house as easy as possible and I did not even consider what guests would want. This is what we have recently purchases for both 2 and 3 bedroom homes LG 7.3 Cu. ft model DLG7151W , washer LG 5.0 cu.ft. high efficiency top load washer (no agitator) model WT7150CW. dryer LG 7.3 Cu. ft model DLG7151W The Cleaners love them and recommend them to their other clients to purchase.

If your cleaners do the laundry at the property, get the biggest one you can. Our cleaners do this at one property. They can do all the laundry while they are cleaning.

It totally depends upon the size of the STR. A 4+ person STR will need much larger machines than a 2 person STR. We totally get away with the smallest machines because our STRs are designed for a maximum of 2 people.

I think either is fine but if you have a high occupant unit I would go larger. Never hurts to go larger.

A standard-size washer/dryer will do the trick.

As big as you can fit space wise. Most people on weekend trips are not going to do laundry anyway. If you're challenged for space, get a stackable....

Hey @Marc Shin, as I said in your previous post I think 4.5 cuft is the minimum. If you can get a deal on a 5.0 and it will fit, then go with that. There is no downside to having a slightly larger machine.

We haven't ever worried about size but more so that it's a commercial model. Like Maytag or Whirlpool's commercial machines. For reference all our properties are 6+ guests.

Is this for the guests to use or for your cleaners? For guests, if it checks the "W/D" box then whatever fits will be fine, I don't think there is a true minimum. If anything machines get more expensive if they are smaller than that because it's more of a niche market. A solid chunk of guests will never use it anyways. If this is for your cleaners to use, then you will need something big, especially if you have more than 2 bedrooms.

@Marc Shin what is the occupancy? Length of stay? If its short term lower occupancy go for a smaller machine if it is larger occupancy you want a big machine. Why overdo it?
