Airbnb removed "Category" tab
This is an interesting move by Airbnb. It seemed like Airbnb was very focused on themed listings and hard marketing in the Category for a while, but now they are gone! I really liked checking the OMG tabs and the idea of Airbnb launching unique houses.
Now they have replaced all of them with selling experiences and services. It looks like Airbnb has decided to focus on making money rather than promoting creating unique memories. This is a meaningful change as it indicates where the company is heading for the next few years. I see that the Category still exists, but guests no longer sort properties except "Luxe". I guess luxury properties were making a lot of money for Airbnb haha.. (What do I do if I want to book a castle now though?)
It is something worth noting, so I am sharing here. Good luck with the upcoming holiday season guys!

I bristled a bit for years as people ragged on Airbnb, but I think I was wrong to not see the writing on the wall.
They are so guest-centric in their policies. Their fees have gotten out of control. And yet, none of my Colorado STR buyers can afford not to be there. The number of eyeballs they attract is crazy. It'd be like writing a book but not putting it on Amazon.
The market is big and Airbnb and VRBO have the money. I worry a viable third option is nearly impossible.
