Proper Insurance leaving the Smokies

A fellow investor and sometimes contributor on this forum informed me that Proper isn't writing new policies in the Smokies due to fire risk.

I find that incredible.  Forest fires in the Appalachians of any size are quite rare due to the significant annual rainful; a fraction of the forest fire activity in the southern and western Rockies.

I have never insured with Proper, so it will have no immediate effect on me, but one less insurer means higher premiums for everyone.  If you are looking for a replacement, contact Sara Moore at Southpoint Risk in Knoxville.  They have been my go-to for many years and represent several suitable insurers.
