VRBO / Homeaway adding new fee to eCheck

Was notified this morning that VRBO will now be charing a 3% fee when processing eChecks.  Very disappointing to say the least.  I guess seeing the rare transaction when a guest paid by eCheck and feeling the small win of saving $50 is long gone.

Hello Michael,

YapStone, HomeAway’s payment partner, is committed to delivering convenience by eliminating the hassle of paper checks for our partners and their customers.

Effective Tuesday, August 28, 2018, we will begin charging a processing fee of 3% per eCheck for a domestic property. By charging a fee for eCheck transactions, we are building a sustainable business model that will allow us to continue offering eCheck as a payment option for travelers.

All other processing fees are unaffected.

Thank you for being a YapStone customer.

Warm regards,
YapStone

@Mike V., I got the same message. I don;'t think many of my books are using echeck so I don't think this is a big deal.

Since Homeaway / VRBO accounts for 95% of my bookings and they keep my calendar full I can't complain about any of their fees. (so far)
