Did I get ripped off by my contractor?

So I hired a contractor to do an addition to a STR home that I have. In his price of $53,000, he broke down the various items and their costs.

For example, he quoted 16 squares of shingles, materials and installation, at $12,000.  But...as it turns out, the project only required 10 squares.  So he we over-shot the shingles to make extra $$$.

Then, he quoted 13 pallets of brick, at $540 per pallet, plus labor to install, at $13,000.  But...there were only 7 pallets of brick delivered and installed, with brick left over.

Did my contractor try to rip me off?  Is it appropriate to reduce the amounts of these commensurate with the actual quantities purchased and installed?

Thank you for your advice!

Did you get ripped off? Yes but not because of the reason you think.  Even at 16 square, thats 750 a square.....that is an outrageous price.  Im in the DC metro area, a very high cost area, and I pay about $350 a square. The most expensive roofing companies charge $550 a square. So at 750 quoted, or $1200 what it turned out to be...you are paying insane prices.
