Apartment STR - How to start this?

We have to move out of our house for a few months and we are thinking of getting an apartment that we then turn into an air bnb after we move out. How do you start a short term rental out of an apartment you're leasing? Does the complex/landlord need to be aware that this is happening or is it like "as long as the bill gets paid and we don't have liability, we don't care" type situation? Do you have any tips for how to approach the complex about this situation?

Hey @Kat Hussey, it's called rental arbitrage and it is generally frowned on in our forum. Do a search and you will see a ton of threads.

Also, if you have to ask if you should inform the landlord, you might want to rethink your strategy.
