So far I only own a townhome in Billings, MT, but my husband and I are looking to rent it out and purchase something else within the next few months. It is good to hear that you have made the decision to dive into real estate, as there is no better wealth generating tool in the world!  

My wife and I are following a house hack model where we purchase a new primary residence every year for the next 5-7 years until we have a portfolio that we can become financially independent on from the monthly cash flow.  Since real estate is expensive in our area, we are also attempting to accumulate cheaper cash-flowing properties in the Midwest to help offset the expensive properties we purchase on the front range of the Rocky Mountains.
