I am super interested in getting involved in real estate investing and meet real estate investors and other helpful professionals close to me and remotely to know the best places to start.  I have one of Brendon's books and want to buy a small apartment complex at some point.

You’re already thinking in the right direction, focusing on small multifamily early and building relationships locally and remotely. The biggest step at this stage is getting around active investors and operators so you can see real deals, real numbers, and how properties are actually managed day to day. Indianapolis can work, but a lot of newer investors also start comparing it to nearby Midwest markets, where small multifamily entry prices are often lower, and cash flow is easier to achieve, especially when you’re trying to scale toward a larger apartment portfolio. Building your network first will make everything else- deal selection, financing, and management—way easier once you’re ready to buy.
