Hi all,

I hope this post finds you well.

My name is Sihao Cao and I am a recently-joined member of BiggerPockets. I found the site after searching for helpful tips regarding real estate investing.

Having studied Finance & Economics in college, I found a job in Framingham, MA as a financial analyst upon graduating from college in 2012. At that time, I bought a condo unit out of foreclosure in Marlborough, MA and have lived there since.

As a new investor, my intention is to start with a multifamily unit in terms of a duplex to fourplex in the Metrowest area (Framingham to Worcester region).

Lastly, given that I am new and eager to learn, please let me know if you know of any real estate investing meet-up and/or networking opportunities in the Metrowest/Worcester areas in MA?

Thanks to all and hope to touch base soon,

Sihao

Hi Sihao, welcome to BP.

This is a great place to learn. Make sure to listen to all the BP podcasts, read the articles on the main blog and be active in these forums to learn a ton very quickly about any topic in real estate you want to know more about.

This is also a great place to meet people that can be assets to your business. Lots of great connections all over but we also have a very strong and active contingent here in MA on here so make sure to find them (Set up some keyword alerts to find out about local topics) and get connected.

Besides doing that on here make sure to get out to some of the many local investor events we have.  If you want one in the Worcester area you need to check out the Black Diamond event there tomorrow night.  It is an awesome meeting (I don't go to that one that much go to the other location in Waltham pretty much every month).  If your focus is on buy and hold in that area there are a couple landlord groups in Worcester County.  I have not been to them but only hear good things about the Northern Worcester County Landlords Association out of Fitchburg.  If you want to come a little more east there are many options both north and south of Boston.  I'd check out the NEREIA in Chelmsford since it is a easy ride on 495 form Marlborough.  The next meeting is going to be about getting into multifamilies here as an owner occupant, good topic for a young ambitious guy that wants to build a portfolio.
