New and Moving To Florida

Hi All,

I'm new to the forum and real estate investing. I have not done my first deal yet but am looking to combine a move with my first deal.

I'm currently living just outside Raleigh North Carolina and want to be closer to the ocean. Wife and I are looking at the Port Charlotte FL area but we're open to other areas of FL as well. We've actually never been to Port Charlotte but are visiting in April to check it out.

Our plan is to buy a multifamily home which we will live in and rent the other units.

I've seen many in the forum state that this is also how they got started and for the most part it sounds like many have had good experiences with this strategy.

If you live in Florida and love the area you live in please give me a shout out and tell me about it. We're in our mid 30's, looking for sun, fishing, kayaking, and close to a nice downtown.
